An unlikely protagonist emerges, a 10-year-old boy named Marty Coslaw. The book features illustrations by Berni (or, Bernie) Wrightson (1948-2017), an American artist and illustrator. Wrightson became well-known for his intricate pencil- and brushwork in his illustrations for horror comics and other comic books. He and King collaborated on several projects.
