First Edition
Unbound. Condition: Very Good. Steel engraved print. Sheet size to the plate mark measures approximately 7.5" x 11.5". Very good. Engraved by W.L. Ormsby, a noted bank-note engraver, after an Imperial photograph by Brady. Onderdonk served as Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of New York from 1830-1861 and is best known today as one of the most controversial figures in the history of the Diocese. He was accused of improper advances toward women and drunkeness, but at least some of the opposition to him came about because of his espousal of the Oxford Movement. He was found guilty and suspended from his duties after a celebrated trial. A bright, clean copy. Scarce. No copies in *OCLC*.
