Seller: BLACK SWAN BOOKS, INC., ABAA, ILAB, Richmond, VA, U.S.A.
Hard Cover. Condition: Poor binding. Jan Wagenaar's highly influential history of the Netherlands, complete in 21 volumes. Each volume bound together with a separate volume of index and notes by other historians, Byvoegsels en Aanmerkingen or "additions and comments". With five folding maps, one folding plan, 112 portrait plates, and 44 folding illustrated plates. The series is considered one of the most important works in the Dutch literary canon, and this edition was likely published to accompany the continuation of this series by other historians about thirty years after publication of the First Edition. Scattered dampstaining to a few of the final volumes. Disbound, with many of the publisher's boards present, though lacking others. Most bindings held with tape; several bindings have textblocks separating, or are lacking a front or rear board. Poor binding.
