Book
Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Book Club Edition. This is the last of Harry Harrison's four "Authors' Choice" anthologies in which he asked leading SF authors, themselves, to select a story "they feel particularly fond of" and "should have been anthologized" previously. The result is anthologies full of stories which are both scarce and high quality. This final book in the series was voted one of the top 10 anthologies of 1974 in the Locus Poll. It collects selections by 15 SF masters, including Arthur C. Clarke, Clifford Simak, Jack Vance and Roger Zelazny. This copy is the SFBC book club edition which was published 2 months after the Putnam first edition, with the same great Paul Lehr dust jacket art. It has printing code "E6" (February 1974) on page 270, so is a 1st printing thus. The book is near fine, marred only by some faint tiny spots along top edge of covers, plus some toning to endpapers and pastedowns. Its binding is tight and square. Boards are sharp-cornered and otherwise unmarked. The pages are unworn and otherwise unmarked. The unclipped dust jacket, now protected in a removable mylar cover, is in very good condition: whole, bright and unmarked, with light wear on ends of spine and flap folds. As with all Space Age Book purchases, I will ship this book in a moisture proof zip-loc bag, padded in bubble wrap, inside a sturdy box to assure it reaches its new owner in the same condition as my description.
