    Hardcover (Original Cloth). Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Poor. Harold Freedman (illustrator). First Edition. XIV, 218pp., last blank, foreword by author, acknowledgements, list of illustrations. Coloured endpapers. Coloured frontispiece, by Harold Freedman. Text is illustrated with 36 two tone illustrations by Harold Freedman, and photography and other illustrations. Inserted loosely into the book are newspaper clippings announcing the author's death and a review of the book by The Australian Womens Weekly, 1967. Dark red boards with gilt writing on the spine. The corners are rubbed and there is shelf wear evident to the bottom edges of the book. The head and heel of spine are bumped, bottom worse than top. Some marks on both the front and back panels. Previous owners name on front paste down and a gift inscription on the ffep. Small mark on the ffep., with resultant loss of colour. Illustrated dustwrapper, by Harold Freedman, with gilt and white background and black writing on front panel and spine. Dustwrapper in poor shape and now in a library sleeving. The dustwrapper is rubbed and faded and the corners are rubbed and chipped. There is a tear on front panel measuring 7" running from the bottom right-hand corner up. Tear is repaired with tape [tape still in situ], there are a few tears to the top dustwrapper edge. Grubby marks are present to both the front and back panels. "Dame Mabel Brooke's fifth book has just been published. It is a history of Victoria, seen through the eyes of two women, herself and her grandmother, an early settler.". Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall.
