Antes que demorarse en una época y una ideología, el libro esculpe las figuritas de siete próceres mexicanos. Ése, su propósito: engordar el acervo del museo con la adquisición de un puñado de muñequitos heroicos. No son figuras realistas sino ejemplares, desprovistas de defectos y bañadas en bronce. We would be lying if we said this is a rigorous work: it does not theorize or offer any wise readings on liberalism, neither is it the product of thorough historical research. Instead of fussing over an age and an ideology, this book sculpts the tiny figures of seven Mexican notables. That is its purpose: to increase the museum's archive with a handful of bronzed heroic figurines, not realistic but exemplary, and lacking any defects. They are not meant to lie in a corner but be placed at the center of the museum, like the Homeric heroes of all non-Catholic Mexican culture. "
