The 13th century was a pivotal point in Western culture. Europe witnessed the rise of the great universities and the resurgence of Aristotelian thought. It was the age of reason. No man exemplified this new age more than Saint Thomas Aquinas, who was a brilliant theologian, a philosopher and privatus investigo. He was the man who perfected faith through reason. The Medieval Adventures of Thomas Aquinas is a fictional account of mysteries Saint Thomas Aquinas encountered during his life. Though a work of fiction, extensive research was carried out to maintain historical accuracy and integrity of the life and times of Saint Thomas. The stories also showcase his masterful style of theology and philosophy. The Pursuit of Truth: During his captivity by his own family, Thomas is able to solve the mysterious death of a local farmer without leaving the confines of his cell. The Reclusive Crusader: While studying in Paris, Thomas investigates the strange circumstances of a knight, recently returned from the Crusades who refuses to see anyone, not even his bride-to-be. The Werewolf of Montabaur: Seeking refuge in the small village of Montabaur, Thomas finds the villagers are living in fear of a dreaded werewolf who rips the throats from its victims. Thomas and the Templar: Thomas helps a Templar knight investigate the theft from the Templar treasury, that was reputed to be impregnable. The Chartres Mystery: While attending the consecration ceremony for the recently completed Chartres Cathedral, Thomas vows to find Chartres' most sacred relic that has been stolen. The Death of Kings: Thomas is asked by King Louis of France to try to find who is sending the king threatening notes. The Prime Mover: While giving a lecture on Quinque viae—five ways or proofs that God’s existence could be proved rationally using the human intellect, Thomas learns who is behind the rash of deaths in Naples.
