A Journey Through New Zealand Film - Softcover

A movie-themed travel book featuring the locations of major motion pictures filmed in New Zealand, illustrated by Ian's own full-color photographs along with movie stills and posters. While this will not be an exhaustive listing of every location of every movie, Ian has concentrated on the popular and critically successful movies made in this country since the seventies. The book features interviews with directors (Peter Jackson, Andrew Adamson, Roger Donaldson, Jane Campion, Gaylene Preston) and movie stars who came to New Zealand to film, with an introduction by Roger Donaldson. Ian has travelled to each of the major locations , as he did with the Lord Of The Rings Location Guide, and while the emphasis this time is less on listing accommodation and local tourism operators, it showcases the wealth of scenic locations available in new Zealand and highlights other opportunities for visitors following the movie trail.

About the Author: Ian Brodie is one of New Zealand's most successful nonfiction writers of recent years. His The Lord of the Rings Location Guidebook was one of the one of the inaugural Booksellers Platinum Award titles, with international sales of over 275,000 copies. Ian lives in Wanaka where he is the founding director of the NZ Fighter Pilot's Museum. He is also the author of the highly successful aviation series, Warbirds over Wanaka. A devoted Tolkien fanatic, keen photographer and movie fan, he is currently working on another movie-related book, and in 2005 he was awarded an MNZM for services to tourism.
