Famed British explorer Sir Wilfred Thesiger spent five years between 1946 and 1950 living with the Bedouin of Southern Arabia and crossing the legendary Rub al-Khali, or Empty Quarter, of the Arabian Desert. About the Author Adrian Hayes is a British, UAE-based, polar explorer and adventurer, keynote speaker and business coach. After a two-year posting in Oman, he left the Army to pursue an MBA at the University of Nottingham, UK, before entering the business world. Having studied personal development since his MBA, he set up his own company in 2007 as a professional adventurer, speaker and business coach, delivering keynotes, team development and leadership seminars worldwide. He is also an ambassador and speaker on economic, social and environmental sustainability. In his free time, Arabic- and Nepalese-speaking Hayes competes in Ironman triathlons, rock climbs and occasionally still sings and plays guitar in a rock band.
