About the Author:
ANDRAS GERO was born in Budapest in 1952. He is the director of the Hapsburg History Institute and Professor at the ELTE University Faculty of Economics and Social History. He also lectures regularly at the Central European University. His research territories are the era of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, the development of the middle class and the history of symbolic politics. He is editor in chief of Budapesti Negyed and a member of the editorial committee of Szazadok.
