About the Author:
Kate Braestrup is the chaplain for the Maine Warden Service and the author of the memoir Here If You Need Me and the novel Onion. She has written for the New York Times Magazine, Boston Globe Sunday Magazine, O, Mademoiselle, More, Ms., and Law and Order and lives in Maine with her husband and children.

As chaplain for the Maine Warden Service, Braestrup is present at rescues and tragedies and has ample opportunity to demonstrate that kindness. She explored that in her earlier book, HERE IF YOU NEED ME, but marriage is the theme here. She recounts stories of fighting with her husband in the early days of their marriage and grieving after his sudden accidental death, marrying a second time, and counseling one of her wardens as his marriage dissolved. Braestrup's voice is intimate and a little smoky, and she's funny and humble, whether she's sharing humorous stories or heartrending ones.
