About the Author:
At one time a regular officer and a fighter pilot during the Korean conflict, James Salter ended his military career to become a writer in 1957. He is the author of four other novels, including the critically acclaimed The Hunters (Counterpoint 1997), a collection of stories, and a memoir, Burning the Days. He divides his time between Bridgehampton, New York, and Aspen, Colorado.
