Although she had loved poetry from childhood, Eileen Elizabeth did not discover her talent for composition until late in life. Following a Creative Writing course in 1996, she developed an interest in. and a talent for, composition and this led, in December of that year, to the publication of “Just for the Record”, which forms the first part of the present volume. Further classes followed, resulting in “Pandora’s Box” in 2005, which makes up the second part. The third part reproduces “Reflections”, published in 2009. Following her death in 2013, her family decided to prepare a collected edition of her work, to include the three collections she had chosen but also other poems, some previously published elsewhere, as well as much new material, found in her files and family papers. The first poem in book 4 was discovered and revealed that she was writing much earlier as this is thought to have been written in around 1980. Reading this material convinced the family that they were worthy of publication, both for their intrinsic merit but also in order to give a complete picture of the range of her ideas and imagination. These miscellaneous poems comprise the fourth part. She entered numerous poetry society competitions and a number of her poems were published in their collections

About the Author:
Eileen Elizabeth was brought up in Ebbw Vale, South Wales, during the Depression of the 1930s. For much of this time her father was unemployed and, consequently money was very short. He was, however, a Deacon of the local chapel, a thoughtful man, and a source of encouragement and inspiration to his daughter. She studied at Ebbw Vale Grammar School, getting good results, and went on to College where she graduated as a Primary School teacher. Memories of her early life are reflected in many of the poems, as is her love of, and sympathy for, the natural world, which appeared early and remained with her all her life.
