About the Author:
Wowee Zonk is the name of a Toronto-based illustrator collective consisting of Chris Kuzma, Ginette Lapalme and Patrick Kyle, but it is also the name of a contemporary comics anthology they edit and produce. Collaborating since 2007, the trio have self-published a countless number of zines and comic books, created atmospheric installations and participated in numerous exhibitions throughout Toronto.
Review:
All of these artists are extremely talented in their own right, but when Wowee Zonk puts them together into one magic issue, it’s genius and beauty combined.” Sofie Mikhaylova, Paper Droids
"I can practically pinpoint which pages were created on drugs: most of em. There are two highlights for me: Donald Dixon’s non-sequitur encounter between Johnny Cash and Eddie Money at a bank (get it?), and Benjamin Hettinga’s crudely drawn but very funny strips, the best of which illustrates why one never should light his farts inside an RV. You’ve been warned." - Rod Lott, Bookgasm
"Wowee Zonk is an anthology mostly made up of Canadians. The core group is Patrick Kyle, Ginette LaPalme, and Chris Kuzma. All three make art that goes back and forth between cute, psychedelic, abstract, and frightening. This issue also has several other cartoonists including Alex Schubert, Marc Bell, Donald Dixon, and Andrei Georgescu. Some of these comics are great. Some seem to be ugly on purpose." - Nick Gazin, VICE Magazine
"If you like the fun, the quirky, the cute, the disturbing, gross, childish, introspective, bizarre, the unusual-Wowee Zonk has something for you and I recommend seeking it out...." - Rebecca Narkiewicz, Word of the Nerd
