From School Library Journal:
Grade 10 Up. This book proposes that a quality education can be obtained without paying a fancy tuition. Each entry includes the barest minimum of information: address, telephone, tuition in state and out, and the degrees (without specialties) available. The same criteria for inclusion are used as in earlier editions: all colleges are fully accredited; they all offer academic programs; and tuition and mandatory fees cost $3500 or less. In keeping the same limit on tuition as in the 1995 edition, nearly all private colleges have been dropped from the directory. It has all but eliminated every listing under New York State with the exception of the community colleges and City College of New York. In a few states, Illinois especially, a number of colleges listed have much higher tuition if a student lives in the state but out of the district (not defined). Indeed, in most cases, if a student wants to go to a public college out of state, the tuition is over $3500, sometimes almost doubling. Most students are well aware of the local community college or choices in their area and don't need a guide, however well put together, to inform them.?Jo-Anne Weinberg, Greenburgh Public Library, NY

From Library Journal:
This inexpensive guide conveniently lists state-supported colleges and universities for dollar-conscious students. Despite the publisher's assertion that each entry was verified by phoning each school, the listings are not comprehensive (the entry for this reviewer's institution describes only the bachelors' degrees offered--giving no mention of the masters' degrees offered in 54 areas or the doctoral degrees in 19 areas). Thus, these short, concise entries must be supplemented with additional sources before an informed decision can be reached. However, students will appreciate its value as a starting point, particularly in these tight economic times. For most educational reference collections.
