From Library Journal:
Opening with an argument about whether the turn of the century was 1900 or 1901, this work presents opinions and accounts of major events of the 1900s from over 50 elderly Americans who have lived through it all. Although Tiede interviewed several well-known people, most are virtually unknown. They include a Ku Klux Klansman, the oldest penal system inmate, the last of the "Untouchables," an Indian chief, a Scopes' trial witness, and a Titanic survivor. The ten chapters are arranged by broad topic rather than chronologically. Well written, with insightful commentary, this would be the perfect complement to a 20th-century American history textbook.
