About the Author:
James Herriot grew up in Glasgow and qualified as a veterinary surgeon at Glasgow Veterinary College. Shortly afterwards he took up a position as an assistant in a North Yorkshire practice where he has remained, with the exception of his wartime service in the RAF. He is married with a son who is also a veterinary surgeon and a daughter who is a doctor.
From AudioFile:
It's WWII, and James Herriot has left Yorkshire to join the RAF. His stories about life in boot camp are interspersed with related anecdotes from his previous veterinary practice. Christopher Timothy is an excellent narrator and a familiar voice to those who have enjoyed "All Creatures Great and Small" on public television. His descriptions of the places and people bring both into sharp focus. The stories are humorous, touching and sometimes sad, but even if you've never been to Yorkshire, Timothy makes it easy to imagine the scenery, weather and country folk. D.M.W. An AUDIOFILE Earphones Award winner. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine
