Navigators: Dinosaurs - Softcover

Titles in the Navigators series don’t require 3-D glasses for viewing, but there is still a remarkably dimensional quality to the images that spring from every page. Following the image-heavy format popularized by such series as DK’s Eyewitness Books, each spread combines exciting color photos and computerized art with succinct text blocks filled with high-interest, unusual facts. Dinosaurs moves from a survey of various species to the meteoric impact that is widely believed to have caused the demise of the creatures, along with much of the earth’s other life-forms. Detailed images, such as paleontologists’ tools and dino features (a Parasaurolophus’ bizarre “trumpeting crest” is particularly interesting), blend with large-scale evolutionary time lines, creating a well-balanced visual mix. Students and browsers will glean a great deal of information from the dynamic interplay between words and images, and they’ll want to continue their research on the Web sites referenced on every spread and in the appended resources, which also include books and suggestions for related museum exhibits and films.
