"THE FIRES WERE BURNING IN THE DARKNESS OF AMERICA..." An overly emotional NASA physicist, Tony Rydell, learns the frightening truth about Earth's normally protective but rapidly thinning ozone layer during an hallucinatory, near fatal flight over Antarctica. But only Clare Holton, an emotionally repressed government scientific liaison officer, is willing to give Tony a hearing. However, Jack Douglas, the ruthless White House financial advisor, has the President's ear and is determined that nothing will undermine his plans to make the United States the world's dominant economic power - even if it costs the environment in the process. So while the world's governments sit back and do nothing, Tony and Clare, initially antagonistic but gradually drawn together, embark on a dangerous, magical quest: to save Earth from the Dream Maker - a mysterious force now growing stronger in the ever-widening hole in the ozone layer... a force that feeds off people's minds and sends them into an alien dream world filled with UFOs and ghosts, monsters and resurrected loved ones... a world where the line between dreaming and reality is gradually being eroded. This in turn brings fire and flood, famine and disease... and America, the most powerful nation on Earth, is being forced back to its pre-industrial age and facing total breakdown. The race is on to prevent this. DREAM MAKER is a fascinating combination of love story, horror, science fiction and hard facts -a prediction of the world to come if we don't deal with today's terrifying environmental problems. Another stunning novel by W.A. Harbinson, bestselling author of GENESIS and REVELATION.

About the Author:
W A Harbinson is the bestselling author of GENESIS and REVELATION. He is also the author of a Number One bestselling biography of ELVIS PRESLEY and the more recent ICONIC VOICES, a 'fictionalized autobiography' based on the interconnected lives of Elvis Presley, Marlon Brando, Norman Mailer, John Lennon, and Andy Warhol.
From Publishers Weekly:
British journalist and screenwriter Harbinson seems to have learned his SF tricks from the worst 1950s B-movies-- Plan 9 from Outer Space , say, with bits of Earth Versus the Flying Saucers thrown in for good measure. The plot here concerns two NASA scientists, Tony Rydell and Clare Holton, who discover an invisible alien intelligence (referred to as a "virus") living inside a hole in the ozone layer. The virus does all the things that invisible alien intelligences are expected to do: takes over people's minds, affects the weather, causes pilots to crash their planes, etc. Harbinson ( Genesis ) describes all this in prose that would be considered too stilted for a government report. Neither a pointless subplot involving Tony and his estranged wife Suzy nor the inevitable romance between Tony and Clare generates any interest, because the characters are not so much cardboard cutouts as tissue-paper cutouts. They spend a great deal of time psychoanalyzing themselves and explaining to each other things they already know. By the end of the book, they have grown so whiny and wearisome that the reader starts rooting for the virus.
