Death on Site - Hardcover

Detective Chief Inspector John MacLeish of New Scotland Yard ( Death's Bright Angel ) and lover Francesca, on a walking/climbing holiday in Scotland, rescue gregarious climber Alan Fraser from a potentially fatal cliff fall. Back in London, surrounded by the same cast, Fraser falls from a 60-foot-high scaffold just as MacLeish arrives with questions about some industrial thefts. Drugs in the bloodstream point to murder, so MacLeish questions the pertinent suspects, jails the wrong one, etc. Neel takes her own sweet time with this plot, emphasizing relationships, detail, and background over action; however, the end result seems worth the effort.
