From the Publisher:
From the author of the Booker Prize shortlisted Knowledge of Angels

'An ingenious celebration of Mozart... An entertaining dance through self-deception to real feeling... Artful in the best sense, enriched by fine descriptive writing.' - Guardian

'An elegant and witty tribute to the genius of Mozart ... The beauty and grace, artifice and skill of the work ... A charming Renaissance conceit.' - Opera Now

'Pacy narrative, strong visual sense, directness of tone, clarity of style.' - The Times Literary Supplement

'A light, witty novel about the risks of falling in love. The novel works as Shakespearean comedy, an operetta with majestic settings, quicksilver changes in emotion, an amused but sympathetic tone and the belief that young love is too naive and transitory to be tragic.' - Financial Times
